Are you like me and swore you’d never code?

Are you also like me and want buttons for people to follow you and to share your favorite images to give people a feel for your personality?

I thought so.

The easiest, and most complete, site I’ve found is AddThis.

To find the buttons that will allow others to follow you all over the web…

Look along the top click Get the Code, then right under that click Follow. Now just fill in the accounts you are interested in sharing with others and click get the code.

After you click ‘Get the Code’ You’ll see something like this:

You can take the ‘Follow Us’ (that is displayed above the buttons in the preview) out by deleting it in the 2nd line of code

<!— AddThis Follow BEGIN —>
<p>Follow Us</p>
<div class=”addthis_toolbox addthis_32x32_style addthis_default_style”>
<a class=”addthis_button_twitter_follow” addthis:userid=”veganmyway”></a>
<a class=”addthis_button_youtube_follow” addthis:userid=”veganmyway”></a>
<a class=”addthis_button_flickr_follow” addthis:userid=”veganmyway”></a>
<a class=”addthis_button_pinterest_follow” addthis:userid=”veganmyway”></a>
<a class=”addthis_button_tumblr_follow” addthis:userid=”veganmyway”></a>
</div>
<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://s7.addthis.com/js/250/addthis_widget.js#pubid=ra-4fe96f397d3f96c7”></script>
<!— AddThis Follow END —>

As long as you leave the beginning and end alone the buttons can be moved around.

<!— AddThis Follow BEGIN —>

<div class=”addthis_toolbox addthis_32x32_style addthis_default_style”>

</div>
<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://s7.addthis.com/js/250/addthis_widget.js#pubid=ra-4fe96f397d3f96c7”></script>
<!— AddThis Follow END —>

Just copy and past them in any order, and use your account name.

<a class=”addthis_button_twitter_follow” addthis:userid=”veganmyway"></a>

You’ll be able to see a preview while you go.

Go into Preferences (its the 2nd to last navigation button along to top of your dashboard) Then click on Customize theme.

The first field you can edit is Title. Originally it will be small but you can expand it by dragging the bottom right corner.

In this screen shot you can see that I’ve extended the Title field on the left and can see the page preview change on the right.

To add a picture use this code

<p><img height=”45” src=”http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m5w8wqoCne1rrdwv7o1_500.png” width=”176” /></p>

Just replace the “http://.png” with whatever your photo’s url is and change the image height and width to suit your picture.

This is really easy because as you change things in this part of tumblr it instantly changes the preview. No need to save, check, edit, save, check…

Have you ever wanted to use an image but there isn’t a click through link? I figured out how to go around that hiccup.

1 - Right click or use the command button on your keyboard and click the picture.

2- select Copy Image Location and paste that url.

I was wondering — Can I use an image for a my ‘pages’ or ‘ask’ link at the top of my blog? — Of course we can! And its easy!

Above is what the final product looks like.

1- Get into your Dashboard (by logging into Tumblr)

2- Click on the blog you’d like to edit (at top of screen).

3- Click on Customize theme (2nd down on the right).

4- On the left scroll down to pages and click edit.

5- Make sure the box in Show a link to this page's feild is active then change the image URL inside the “…” and adjust the height and width.

<img height=”40” src=”http://www.amiys.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/html-pointing-sign-clipart.jpg” width=”50” />

I left in the URL I used and kept the sizing the same, feel free to use it as it or change it to for your blog.

1- Get into your Dashboard (by logging into Tumblr)

2- Click on the blog you’d like to edit (at top of screen).

3- Click on Blog Settings (3rd down on the right).

4- On the left scroll down to Ask.

5- In the box Ask page title use…

<img height=”30” src=”http://www.genuinejobs.com/telecommuting/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/work-at-home-questions.gif” width=”40” />

Just change the image URL inside the “…” and adjust the height and width… I left in the URL I used and kept the sizing the same, feel free to use it as it or change it to for your blog.

How to you embed VIDEO in a non video post.

I went through months of trying to figure out why I had been able to embed video in my post and now couldn’t. Turns out I was posting in HTML for a while and then switched back. So, open up HTML and paste the code where ever you want it.

Select you size if you have the option, and use the HTTP option.

PS… Tumblr doesn’t think you should do this… IDK.

More to come… Feel free to send me a message.
